I have posted a comment at the Canon 10x30 review page specific to that product. In general, and having owned and tested many brands and models of binoculars over the years, and having now used the Canon IS for over nine years, I would not even consider any non-IS binoculars (unless one would them exclusively with a tripod). As to which is the best model depends on whether one needs a wider field or more power. The 10x30 were the only affordable ones available when be bought and are still among the best value for performance. And, being middle-of-the-range for FOV and power, they cover nearly all possible circumstances. For fishing? I've used them for pelagic birding but not fishing, so cannot recommend. Though we use them primarily for birding, we have also used them for wildlife and I can't think more than 10x would be that desirable, considering the extra weight and much-higher cost of models with more power.

Hi, Hubby and I are in our early 60's. We are going on a walking safari in Kruger Park in SA for a week. What can you recommend for animal watching.
Another question, we have some older Eschenbach binocs where the right lense focusing adjustment has come loose and no longer focuses.
Can one have that repaired and is it worth while to invest the repair costs or rather chick them and get new ones.
Many thanks,
Gil

You have done a good job. I am looking for a set to use on my boat for fishing.

I have used Leitz 8x32s for over 40 years and love them.

so I expect something with quality...the problem is I live in the middle of nowhere in Idaho...and try to get my hands on these binocs to test them...is a bit difficult...

what do you reccomend for marine use for fishing..?
quality and durability is important...I want to be able to say..."these really make a difference"

thanks
